The key to the new XK's remarkable performance characteristics lies in its all-aluminium body structure. Using techniques developed by the aerospace industry, the bodyshell is constructed from extruded, pressed and cast aluminium components which are riveted, epoxy-bonded, and in specific areas, bolted together. The resulting body structure is not only strong and remarkably rigid but also exceptionally light, and means that the new XK accelerates faster, handles more precisely, stops more quickly, uses less fuel and is safer in the result of an impact
